Footprint

This is a picture I took in PEI Thanksgiving 2010. The funny thing about this photo is that it was the kids who pointed out that it was my footprint, I thought it was one of their's. Typical mom, kids first, moms second (or tenth or whatever). But here's proof I exist as much as any of us exist, here and now, until the next wave. What would it be live to live forever - awful, awesome? I wonder if in my lifetime we'll figure out how. I hope not.

Waiting

January is a month of waiting for me: waiting for longer days, waiting for celebrations (birthdays and alcohol at the end of the month), waiting for colour, waiting for warmth, waiting for anything to break up this "sombre" month. I hate waiting! How are we supposed to "live in the moment" in this month? Ba humbug.
But, what we do have in January are stars. And because this month I have a lack of words I'll give you some words from "The Little Prince" by Antione de Saint-Exupery. When the little prince is dying at the end of the story (sorry to be a "spoiler"), he says to the pilot, "People have stars, but they aren't the same. For travelers, the stars are guides. For other people, they're nothing but tiny lights. And for still others, for scholars, they're problems. For my businessman, they were gold. But all those stars are silent stars. You, though, you'll have stars like nobody else." "What do you mean?" "When you look up at the sky at night, since I'll be living on one of them, since I'll be laughing on one of them, for you it'll be as if all the stars are laughing. You'll have stars that can laugh!"
For this month, while we wait, I hope you can find stars that make you laugh.
